There are many obstacles that can prevent us from embracing and truly experiencing the forgiveness that God offers through His Son Jesus Christ. The next few posts will take a look at some of the common lies that keep us from receiving God’s incredible gift of forgiveness.
God WANTS us to experience the conviction of the Holy Spirit, because conviction is a GOOD thing! It is critical for spiritual growth, and a very necessary part of the process for us to see our sin and seek God’s forgiveness.
I enjoy every study I prepare for the women in jail, and I have learned that God always works ON me and IN me before He works through me. But this particular study has probably impacted me more on my own spiritual walk than any other I have prepared. I pray it will be a blessing to anyone who reads it.
Have you ever felt guilty when you did something wrong? I certainly hope so!!! But have you ever wondered what God’s purpose is for guilt in our lives? Why did God create us to experience feelings of guilt?
I think every believer in Christ wonders at one point or another if their salvation is “real”. Another gift that comes to us through obedience is our security in Christ. Jesus gives us a straightforward “test” to evaluate the sincerity of our love for Him.
As we begin to understand what Jesus Christ has done for us, the only appropriate response is reverence, gratitude, and love for Him. If we seek Him with a sincere and honest heart, He offers mercy and forgiveness.
The result of Adam and Eve’s rebellion against God and their rejection of Him as Lord and Master is clear. By Genesis 4 we have sin, evil, suffering, pain, depression, hurt, headache… and murder. Sin is throughout the Bible, and there are always significant consequences.
God designed us to be “in step” with Him. That is when we will be the happiest, the most fulfilled, and the most secure. My “ministry dog” Tillie does a great job of illustrating being in step with me in the video clip that goes with this post.
