I have written before that “I have a box, and I like my box”. But God is not a God of boxes. He seems quite persistent about dragging us outside of our boxes on a regular basis!
A few months ago I was asked by a dear friend to teach at a small women’s retreat. She insisted that this was God’s idea, and not hers. And I do believe her, and I do sense God’s calling to do this, and I do want to be obedient… but this is seriously outside my box! I have never even BEEN to a women’s retreat. I have never taught Bible study outside jail. And this is going to be a 4 day retreat – eight Bible study sessions. Goodbye box!
I’ve been so blessed to study and prepare material for this retreat, which will take place next week. And as always, God has been so faithful to draw me into His Word. I am nervous, but I am also looking forward to seeing what God has in store.
I would like to ask for your prayers. Please join me in prayer that God prepare the hearts of all the women attending, as well as my heart. That our time together glorifies God and Him alone. That He touches our minds and hearts with His Truth. That we all grow in our knowledge and understanding of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. That we leave the retreat with a deeper understanding of who He is and a greater desire to be more like Him and walk worthy of His calling on each of our lives. That we are able to gaze upon His face. And that He make me the “dummy” – that He speaks through me and I don’t get in the way. That anything I say that is not of God falls away unheard.
The title of the retreat is “Chains or Christ… Your Choice. Breaking Free From Our Self-Imposed Prisons”.
